Working for people's power and involvement

People's Advocacy participates in organizing visits by a multicultural delegation to House Representatives and Senators of the U.S. Congress as part of the No Separate Peace collaborative campaign. The campaign calls for a moratorium (suspension) on raids and deportation of undocumented immigrants.  The Coalition of African, Arab, Asian, European, and Latino Immigrants of Illinois (CAAAELII), in collaboration with the Cambodian Association of Illinois (CAI), Centro Sin Fronteras/ Familia Latina Unida, IFCO workers, Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), Target Area Development Corporation (Target), and West Town Leadership  (WTLU) participated in these visits to the U.S. Congress.  People's Advocacy participated in preparing for these visits, organizing a press conference, and in connecting CAAAELII and other participating organizations with the Immigration and Refugee Program of Church World Service,  a national program that provides support to immigrant organizations nationwide.

People's Advocacy has been working with CIVITAS, the Citizenship and Voter Training School, of CAAAELII since CIVITAS's inception in 2004 to strengthen its network and coalitions around immigration issues in the US.
